ugg scarf Home heating help available for for low
While South Jersey is still in the grip of winter, low income residents may be eligible for assistance with their home heating costs through a federal program thats accessible at three application centers in Atlantic County.
This year has been very cold, said Lori Sigrist, director of the Home Energy Assistance Program at Ocean Inc. That impacts a households ability to make ends meet. This program assists with that.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is a federal program that helps households meet their heating bills by providing benefits based on family size and income level, Sigrist explained. Its administered through the state by a local community action program Ocean Inc. in Atlantic County with benefits distributed either directly to the utility company or by a two party check that includes the residents name as well as the heating supplier.
Any Atlantic County resident can apply for the program by contacting one of the three Ocean Inc. locations, in Atlantic City, Galloway Township and Pleasantville. The application can be mailed or picked up and is due by April 30.
I think its extremely helpful to offset the costs of what its costing to heat their homes, especially for senior and low income households, Sigrist said.
